The Cream Shed

The cream shed was built by the Dolan family who were pioneering dairy farmers in the Tallebudgera Valley. It was built in the 1920s, was the last remaining building from the original farm and is a good historical representation of that era.

Barry, Isla and Simon Miller donated the cream shed to the museum in June 2005. We thank them for their contribution to the preservation of the history of our region.

Cream and Mail Box

The roadside cream and mail box was usually located at the front gate of farms and is where the cans of fresh cream were left ready to be collected by the truck and taken to either Nerang or Mudgeeraba railway stations and then delivered to either Kingston Butter factory or Norco at Murwillumbah.

The truck driver would, on his return journey, deliver the groceries, bread, meat and mail and leave this in the boxes as well as the empty cream cans.
